Indiana candidate d'Ippolito fails to make the ballot

She wanted to take on Indiana's Democratic party, but left-wing candidate Tamyra d'Ippolito failed to make the ballot for the Democratic primary to replace Sen. Evan Bayh, the Indy Star reports. Democratic Party insiders will now choose the nominee.
It was a bad sign from the beginning that d'Ippolito kept talking about getting the minimum 4,500 petition signatures as her goal. Serious candidates try to get twice as many, just in case some are disqualified.
